Abstract

When a system of racialized stratification in health is operated through the institutional framework of the State, it contributes to the inequitable distribution of health outcomes: structural racism of the State. The affirmative and restorative action of the Colombian State that included sickle cell anemia as orphan disease number 751 through Resolution 2048 of 2015 by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, under the protection of Law 1392 of 2010, is judged as a process of institutional racialization, determining the inequity of the health status of the affected patient population.
