Systematization of experiences as a research method in medical education

Abstract

In medical education research, learned quantitative research methodologies are not enough to transmit successful educational experiences. These approaches have the limitation of focusing only on the analysis of numerical data, without considering the understanding of phenomena from the perspective of the participants, researchers and their context. This article addresses qualitative research and in particular the method of systematization of experiences as an effective way of organizing and reconstructing an educational experience in medical education, taking into account the process, the factors involved and the internal logic of the phenomenon. Although the systematization of experiences is valuable to understand phenomena and improve educational practices, it is rarely used in research in medical education mainly due to its lacking knowledge. It's important to value and apply the systematization of experiences in medical education to promote effective learning is highlighted.
