Abstract

Forty-eight cases of chromomycosis diagnosed between 1962-1974, were studied; the most important findings were the following: A. Practically all patients were males (91. 7%), B. Over two thirds (79. 1%) of the patients were 30 years of age and older, C. The lesions had evolved for 5 or more years in 54. 1% of the cases, D. The lower extremities were the sites most often involved (83. 3%) and E. The only etiologic agent isolated from the 45 cases proven by culture, was F. pedrosoi.
