Doege Potter Syndrome
Abstract
Doege-Potter syndrome is a preneoplastic phenomenon which may occur in patients with solitary fibrous tumors of the pleura (SFTPs), often between the sixth and seventh decade of life, and is characterized by hypoglycemia. We present the case of a 59-year-old patient with a history of uterine myomatosis and resection of a mass from her left breast, who presented episodes of altered consciousness with loss of postural tone and lack of response to external stimuli, with documented hypoglycemia. A fasting test was positive for non-hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia, and she was diagnosed with Doege-Potter syndrome. She underwent total surgical resection of the tumor with subsequent resolution of the hypoglycemia
